Do I need an electrician before spa removal?

We handle disconnection as part of the removal in most cases — that's the standard service. For a hardwired spa or a spa with mains plumbing, a licensed electrician or plumber is required by Queensland law to make the final disconnection. If your setup needs one, we flag it in the photo quote and either coordinate it directly through our trade network or give you the licensed tradies' contact details so you can book before our crew arrives. There is no surcharge for the coordination — you only pay the trade fee from the tradie. Most plug-and-play above-ground spas do not need an electrician at all.

Can you remove a plumbed-in spa or hot tub?

Yes. We remove every type of spa and hot tub: above-ground portable spas, semi-inground spas set into decking, and fully plumbed built-in models that share a slab with the house. The job changes mainly based on how the spa was installed — portables come out in an afternoon, plumbed-in spas need a half-day with disconnection and saw work, and inground spas are quoted as a specialist project. When you send photos we look at three things: the spa shell type, the side access (gates, fences, narrow paths), and any plumbing or electrical hardwiring. The fixed price quote then reflects all of those — no surprises on the day.

What happens to the spa after removal?

We break the spa down on-site rather than hauling it whole, because that is the only way to fit most spas through standard side-access gates. Fibreglass shells go to construction and demolition recycling, metal frames and the underbelly chassis go to scrap metal facilities, pumps and motors are stripped for copper and electrical components, and the pipework and acrylic trim are separated and sent to appropriate processors. Overall this is part of the 92% landfill diversion rate we maintain across all jobs (2025 waste manifests, licensed Gold Coast resource recovery facilities). The chemicals are drained and disposed of correctly — never tipped down a stormwater drain. We leave the slab and surround in the condition we found them.

How much does spa removal cost on the Gold Coast?

Spa and hot tub removal is priced per spa, not per cubic metre — because the cost is driven by access difficulty and disconnection complexity rather than volume. Standard above-ground spa removal starts from A$350 and most plumbed-in spas land in the A$450 to A$850 range. A full inground spa or a job with tight crane access can be higher. The variables are: spa size and shell type, side-access width (anything under 800 mm needs hand-carry or breakdown), whether plumbing or hardwired electrical needs disconnecting, and any decking or coping we need to lift to get the spa out. You send a couple of photos, we send a fixed price within 2 hours. No call-out fee, no quote fee.

Can you remove above-ground pools?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Above-ground pools are essentially large-diameter spas from a removal point of view, and we handle them the same way. Steel-framed pools (Bestway, Intex and similar), framed soft-sided pools, and the larger semi-permanent fibreglass-walled pools are all in scope. The process is: drain the pool fully (we cap any plumbing while it drains), dismantle the frame, roll and bag the liner, and haul everything to the appropriate recycling streams. Steel frames go to scrap metal, liners go to construction and demolition processing where possible. We do not drain pool water into stormwater drains — water with chlorine or salt is dispersed via your garden under council guidelines if volume allows.
